<<The hardest

eat enough vegetables.>>
Dylan Moran, comedian
The british comedian
Dylan Moran has experienced scolding, loud booing and personal insults on stages
in London. Yesterday he opened the Stand Up Festival in Oslo.
If we are to believe the experienced stand up comedian from Great Britain, norwegians
are a civilized and neat people compared to their neighbours in the west. It
can be quite brutal on more than a hundred standup-stages in London. It is the
rule more than the exception that the audience comes with snide remarks and
are booing at the artists on stage. Life as a stand up comedian in England has
made Dylan Moran thick skinned.
Sheer torture
- On Friday nights people comes from work and drink themselves senseless. They
sit in their own urin, sleep or throw up. When many in the room screams cunt
at you in unison, its sheer tortur, he tells.
Moran is among the most recognized comedians in Great Britain. In 1996 he won
the comedy award, Perrier Comedy Award. He has produced his own comedy series
on television, and has had roles in movies such as Notting hill and The Actors.
Moran thinks that the reason that stand-up is so popluar in Great Britain is
the social barriers and the taboos that are fixed in the british society.
Sex and death
- We are embarrassed about sex and death, and we dont know how to discuss
these subjects in normal settings. Hence the comedy becomes an important factor
in society.
He currently lives in Edinburgh. These days the worlds largest humorfestival,
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, kicks off. This year Moran doesn't have the energy
to participate.
-The festival lasts for a month, and when your only working one hour a day,
I only end up drinking every day. The hardest thing about this profession isnt
to come up with enough jokes, but to eat enough vegetables, says the comedian.
The comedian Dylan Moran has been touring the world for one year. Yesterday
he participated in the opening of this years stand up festival on Latter in
